Confirmation

At Cross and Resurrection, Confirmation class is a two year program for middle school aged children.  We have a few simple goals:

Head knowledge

—we use a curriculum based on Luther’s Small Catechism, Martin Luther’s great contribution to the Christian faith and serves as a model for most confirmation programs.  We cover:

1. The Lord’s Prayer – how do we pray?
2. The Apostles Creed – how do we know who God is?
3. The Ten Commandments – how do we love God and love one another?
4. Baptism, the Lord’s Supper, Confession and Confirmation – how do we grow in our Christian faith?

Heart knowledge

—we want the young people to know the Lord.  We learn to actually pray, we have retreats together, we encourage the youth to go to a week-long camp called Pine Hills Camp.

Have fun in the process! 

We feel that confirmation class should be something the youth look forward to.  We take time off and go out for donuts, we have some retreat time together.  And we have our quiz bowl – dividing up into teams to answer both easy and tough questions.

We do our best to make this accessible to all, including those with special needs.
